  Commercial kitchen grease extract systems present particular hazards due to the potential for the accumulation of grease, which forms a hidden combustion load. 

The Health & Safety Executive and industry and insurance guidance and regulations stipulate that kitchen extract systems should be kept clean to minimise fire and other risks.

TM44 inspections of Air Conditioning Systems need to be carried out every five years to comply with current legislation. The TM44 inspection includes evaluation of the cooling requirements of the building, system capacity and overall efficiency, as well as recommendations on how to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions of your aircon systems. They often save you money by reducing energy consumption, as well as ensuring you avoid potential fines for non-compliance.

  Fats, oils and grease (FOG) disposal regulations have been put in place to reduce the impact that fats, oils and grease have on our drainage systems and the environment.

FOG can accumulate in pipework resulting in a reduction of flow through pipes and lead to reduced flow and huge blockages that have a major impact on the infrastructure and local residents. It is important to note that FOG issues are not down to one particular type of cooking style, fats and oils are derived from meats, fish, dairy products and almost all types of preparation and cooking.

There are laws and regulations to which all commercial kitchens must adhere, including: -

  Legionella is a bacteria that can be found in any water system including systems with or without cold water storage tanks. There are many reasons why Legionella grows in a water system, these include: areas of little use allowing water to stagnate, temperatures between 20-50°C, nutrients such as debris, limescale, foreign bodies or materials that encourage growth.

In order to comply with the Health and Safety Commission Approved Code of Practice L8 ACOP HSG 274 (Legionnaires’ Disease, The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems), companies are under a legal obligation to minimise and control the risk of legionellosis by:
